The Night Sky We've Lost

If you've lived your life in American cities (like I have), then you've lost the night sky. Here are ten images of what we've all lost.

Sad.

Oh, and if you happened to look up at the right time on Monday, you might have noticed the passage of a asteroid within only 38,000 mi. That's less than 10 times the radius of the earth. A fifth of the distance to the moon. On a cosmic scale, that's freaking close.

Not quite scary, no worth losing sleep over, but someting to make you think.

Those are the two sides of the same coin. Beautiful, but dangerous and untamed.
